Today’s article is for football fans! And this prediction is made on 5th October 2025.
Having supported Arsenal since 2004, I have seen the ups and downs of Arsenal throughout this 20+ years journey.
The current record for an Arsenal manager is Arsene Wenger with 3 Premier League trophies and 7 FA Cups.
In comparison, Mikel Arteta was appointed in December 2019, and as of today 5th October 2025 has only won 1 FA Cup.
Despite that, I predict Arteta will surpass Wenger’s record and be Arsenal’s greatest manager.
Here’s why:
1: Learned Under The Best Mentor
For me this is easily one of the most important key as Arteta learns from Pep Guardiola by being his assistant coach for over 3 years.
From there Arteta not only learn about football tactics, but he also learn how to deal with the players on a human level. And these are top professionals in the world.
With 3 full seasons learning under Pep, I believe Arteta has the benefit of seeing what works and what doesn’t as he absorb the knowledge while Pep is the spotlight.
And he has applied the knowledge to full use as the past 3 years Arsenal is always competing in the champions league and they are really unlucky to finish 2nd in Premier League for 3 consecutive years!
Let’s relook again in May 2026 if Arsenal can win their first Premier league after 20 years!
2: Unorthodox Methods from Other Disciplines
I love Arteta for use methods outside of football to give his team an added advantage. Something that Charlie Munger would call multidisciplinary method.
Some of his methods include:
Inviting RAF pilots to share communication strategy because if the manager and players can communicate better it will build better chemistry on the field.
Arteta also hire professional pickpockets to steal from his own players, so the players will develop a sense of alertness at all times.
Another Spanish coach, Luis Enrique also adopt approach from other disciplines like rugby inspired approach for his team, PSG. And PSG is easily a top 5 team in the world now, having won the Champions League last year.
I believe to be the very best in your field, you also need to mix in best practices from other field.
3: Age
Arteta is only 43 years old now. He is still young for a coach and with young age comes hunger for success.
Also with his age, he can play the long term game and oversee multiple generations of Arsenal team as long as he can start winning some trophies.
It’s all about building the compounding effect until you are irreplaceable and have that “aura”, something that Sir Alex Ferguson has achieved having managed Man United for 26 years.
4: Passion for Arsenal
You can the best coach, but what about loyalty and passion for the club?
Arteta is super passionate about Arsenal and he never celebrate even when Man City used to thrash Arsenal during the Pep-Arteta era.
Being a former Arsenal captain, he has extra incentive and drive to bring Arsenal back to the top.
5: Financial Backing by the Owners
Lastly, Arsenal is blessed with financial backing from the 2nd generation of the Kroenke. While Stan Kroenke is more passive, his son Josh Kroenke is super supportive of Arteta and his team by giving financial backing to buy top players like Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, Eze, Zubimendi, and many more.
You can be the best coach in the world, but without the financial backing to also buy top players, it will be hard to compete against the best team in the world.
Arsenal now have the financial strength as well, having always lost out to teams like Man City and Chelsea in the past.
Conclusion
I believe the bright days for Arsenal is coming soon in the next years, from 2025 to 2035. And I believe Arteta will lead Arsenal to success with plenty of trophies.
